Dear [NAME],

Do you know a friend or someone who has recently been "displaced," is "between projects," or perhaps "newly liberated"?  Are they looking to take charge by finding a new passion, reinventing their career, or considering a non-traditional career path?   If so, do them a favor and tell them about LaidOffCampNY, a two-day free event in NYC May 1-2.

What is LaidOffCampNY?  LaidOffCampNY is part of a global volunteer movement of user-generated conferences designed to educate, empower, and connect community members who are facing significant challenges in the current economic climate.  LaidOffCampNY features a unique, open, and participatory environment for attendees which give attendees maximum value for their time with workshops, panels, and discussions focussed on issues relevant to them.

Proposed sessions include:

- Building Your Personal Brand

- Transitioning to a New Industry

- Legal & Accounting Demands of Launching a New Business

- Finding Affordable Health Insurance

- Alternative Working Spaces

- Alternative Income Sources

- How to Become a Freelanceer

The first national LaidOffCamp was on March 3, 2009 in San Francisco with more than 400 attendees. The success of LaidOffCamp:San Francisco has sparked LaidOffCamp organizations and events to launch globally in over 25 cities with proactive individuals taking the initiative to make the most of their situations in the current economic downturn.

LaidOffCampNY is directed towards entry to mid-level professionals in digital media, advertising, publishing, technology and financial service space.  We want to collaborate with you and your community, so spread the word!  Please contact us if you're interested in supporting this effort or have ideas on how to make LaidOffCampNY a success.
