Things to do when unemployed and not looking for a job aka living it up

  • Great bike rides throughout the bay area

Session Format Suggestion:

In the spirit of keeping LaidOffCamp an ad-hoc, self organized unconference - it may be beneficial to learn about and implement the methods of "Open Space Technology" (OST) meeting facilitation to LaidOffCamp - or at least incorporate some best practices.

Open Space Principles and The Law of Mobility & Responsibility:

Principles:

  1. Whoever comes is the right person
  2. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have
  3. Whenever it starts is the right time
  4. When it’s over, it’s over

The Law of Mobility and Responsibility (aka The Law of Two Feet):

“If you are not learning or contributing where you are, find a place where you can learn or contribute.”

Here are some links that will offer more information on OST:

My partner and I would love to present something in the "Building Your Personal Brand" space. We're conferring later tonight and will update our topic proposal as we nail it down. We have both done a lot of coaching of entrepeneurs and business people in this realm as well as running on our businesses.

I can speak in Startup Stream, topic: "Legally registering a Corporation, Nonprofit or LLC " , it's my 20 year specialty, as CEO of SeedPort.com

Hey Chris,

I can help out with the finance stream and freelancing stream. I left salesforce.com 2 years to become an independent consultant and ultimately parlayed into a profitable consulting business.

However, at the moment I am transitioning out of the business and focusing on forming a new startup.

If you're really interested in the Getting Booked Solid session, pick up a copy of the Michael Port book "Book Yourself Solid," available on Amazon.

I would love to present Monetizing Your Passion. As a way of curing unemployment, job seekers should have the skill set to generate their own incomes doing what they love. This session would offer practical tips and a visual guide to help them determine what they want to do and how to do it.

Or, for job seekers I could do Shameless Self Promotion. :) Check out http://wowisme.net for more ideas. I'm happy to present any ideas that will help the group.
