SUBJECT: greetings from LaidOffCamp

Hello <name if available>,

I am writing on behalf of LaidOffCamp, an organization that is hosting unconferences around the globe for unemployed and nontraditionally employed people (including freelancers, entrepreneurs and startups) who want to share ideas and learn from each other. At each LaidOffCamp, attendees will discuss topics in sessions that may include: living on an extreme budget, building your personal brand, how to be a freelance consultant and more. The first LaidOffCamp will occur on March 3rd, 2009 in San Francisco, CA. Expected attendance for this event is 300-400 people.

Recent coverage of LaidOffCamp includes a segment on the CBS 5 (KPIX) evening news (video: http://vimeo.com/3277398) and a front page story in the San Francisco Chronicle (Internet-version of the article: http://tr.im/loc_sfc_web).

I am writing to see if <organization name> is interested in being a sponsor for the  LaidOffCamp San Francisco event. This is a unique opportunity to earn the goodwill and attention of hundreds of people in attendance, and countless others across the country via our website and press coverage. This is a grassroots effort with no intentions of making a profit, so any donation would be greatly appreciated.
